About Tennis HQ - Who are we? And our History
About Tennis HQ
At Tennis HQ, we help players choose the right tennis equipment without the confusion.
Buying a tennis racket can be overwhelming. There are so many options, and things like weight, head size, and grip can make a big difference. A lot of players end up choosing something that doesn’t really suit their game.
That’s why we started Tennis HQ.
Where It Started
Tennis HQ came from the success of Badminton HQ.
We built that into one of the UK’s leading online retailers by focusing on clear information, simple website structure, and helping customers make better buying decisions.
A lot of the same brands and problems exist in tennis, especially when it comes to choosing the right racket. So it made sense to expand and do the same thing properly for tennis players.

Who We Help
We work with players of all levels, but most of our customers are regular club players who want to improve and make better choices when buying equipment.
The biggest issue we see is confusion.
Players aren’t short of options. They’re unsure what actually suits them.
Questions like:
- What weight should I go for?
- Which head size is right?
- What grip size do I need?
- Am I choosing something too advanced or not advanced enough?
Our goal is to make those decisions easier, based on real experience working with players and equipment.
Real Product Knowledge
We don’t just sell rackets. We understand them.
We’ve tested a wide range of products and know how different rackets actually feel and perform. In many cases, we can recommend the right racket just from a player describing their game and what they’re looking for.
That practical experience is built from years of working with players, testing equipment, and helping customers make the right choice.
Buying Guides That Actually Help
We’ve created detailed buying guides to break things down in a simple way.
They’re designed to help you:
- Understand what matters and what doesn’t
- Avoid common mistakes
- Find the right racket for your level and playing style
If you’re not sure where to start, our tennis buying guides listed below are a good place to begin.
Meet the Team
Tennis HQ is built around real experience with racket sports and equipment.
We’re not just listing products. We understand how they actually perform and who they are right for.
George – Racket Specialist
George brings over 16 years of coaching experience and has worked with players at all levels, including national level.
Alongside coaching, he has run his own racket stringing business, giving him a strong understanding of how rackets perform and how different setups affect play.
Having tested a wide range of rackets, he can often recommend the right option based on a player’s style, level, and preferences.
His focus is simple. Help players avoid common mistakes and choose equipment that genuinely suits their game.
David – Founder
David founded Tennis HQ after building Badminton HQ into a successful online retailer.
He is passionate about helping grow racket sports, particularly among younger players. Coming from an extreme sports background, he understands what modern players are looking for and how they want to shop.
While now playing recreationally, he trained regularly with county-level players as a junior and has stayed closely connected to the sport ever since.
His focus is on making tennis equipment easier to understand and more accessible to everyone.
Mike – Stringing Specialist
Mike is responsible for making sure every racket is prepared to the highest standard.
He focuses entirely on stringing and takes pride in doing things properly, without rushing or cutting corners.
Whether it’s a casual player or a high-level competitor, the goal is always the same. Deliver a racket that performs exactly as it should.
Our Approach
We keep things simple.
Clear information, honest advice, and a focus on helping you make the right choice.
Everything we do is built around helping players feel confident in their decisions, not second-guessing them after they buy.
We’re not here to overcomplicate things or push you towards something you don’t need.
